Soderling cruises into Valencia quarters
Robin Soderling in the favorite to win the Valencia Open after crusising into the quarterfinals
Second seed Robin Soderling eased into the quarterfinal of the Valencia Open on Thursday with a straight sets victory over Spain's Daniel Gimeno-Traver.
The Swede, who is now favorite to win the tournament following the departures of top seed Andy Murray and third seed Fernando Verdasco, took just over an hour to progress 6-2 6-3.
Soderling is joined in the last eight by fourth-seeded Spaniard David Ferrer, who had no problems defeating Russian qualifier Teymuraz Gabashvili 6-4 6-1.
And Russian sixth seed Nikolay Davydenko booked his place in the quarters with an impressive 7-6 6-2 success over Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela.
