Time to send riggers to jail – Fashola
Governor Babatunde Fashola
Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, has called for adequate punishment for electoral offenders.
Fashola told THE PUNCH during a public lecture marking the second anniversary of Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole in Benin on Friday. He said this would stabilise the electoral process.
Our correspondent got an opportunity to take up the governor on the issue when some undergraduates asked him to pose for photographs with them.
Fashola regretted the inability of the Federal Government to convict suspected electoral offenders since the return of democratic rule in 1999.
According to him, “Nobody has gone to jail for electoral offences before and I think this is the time to make the law work.
“This is the time to jail anyone found culpable in order to sanitise the system.”
