Kidnappers nab Edo journalist

THE Spate of kidnappings in Edo state reared up its head yesterday in Benin as the General Manager of Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS), Mr. Tunde Ebozoje was abducted by unknown gunmen.
He was trailed by his kidnappers while on his way from work Thursday evening even as his car was said to have been  riddled  with bullets by his abductors who later took him away.
As at press time, the kidnappers have made contact with the Mr. Ebozoje’s family, demanding N20m ransom before they could release him from their custody
Following the kidnap of  Ebozoje, journalists in Edo State threatened to embark on a protest to draw attention to the worsening security situation in the state
Following the rampant of kidnap cases which have become rampant in Benin, the state capital, medical doctors in the state  were forced to embark on strike action to protest the incessant kidnap of its members.
The strike was called off last Wednesday, following the intervention of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Bright Omokhodion, who pleaded with the striking doctors to call their strike action in the interest of the suffering people of the state.
Several telephone calls made to the Edo State Police Command spokesman, MR. Peter Ogboi by Vanguard for his comment on the issue  were unanswered.
