Applause for rector over varsity status for YABATECH

The Federal Government has commended the Rector, Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, Dr. Margaret Ladipo, for her contribution towards the ongoing implementation of government policy on the transformation of the college to a university.

This was contained in a statement signed by the institution‘s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Kunle Adams after the inauguration of the Ministerial Implementation Committees on the Transformation of YABATECH and Kaduna Polytechnic to City universities of technology by the Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufa‘i in Abuja.

According to the statement, Rufa‘i described the rector as a dogged fighter, who has contributed immensely to the efforts being made to convert the polytechnics to universities.

Rufa‘I, who inaugurated the committees in Abuja, said the committees were to come out with workable document that would guide the ministry in ensuring the implementation of the government policy.

The committees, she said, were expected to incorporate issues such as staffing, facilities, equipment, student admission, transition, funding, accreditation as well as resource inspection.
