SGF faults Reps on presidential inauguration committee
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Alhaji Yayale Ahmed, on Wednesday faulted moves by the House of Representatives to legislate on the inauguration of Presidents and Vice-Presidents.
A new bill before the House seeks to establish a committee to be known as Presidential Inauguration Committee.
The primary duties of the committee are to arrange for a smooth transition between outgoing presidents/vice-presidents and incoming presidents/vice-presidents as well as coordinate the inauguration of the latter.
The Bill for an Act to Provide for the Presidential Transition and for Matters Connected Therewith proposes that the committee shall have a Senator as its chairman and a member of the House of Representatives as the deputy.
