Jonathan’s wife asks women to remain focused

The wife of the President, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, has urged women to remain focused in the fight for change and in attaining the 35 per cent affirmative action.
“Women should be more focused and do away with those factors that have slowed down development in the country,’’ she said at the inauguration of 100 Women National Consultative Group on Tuesday in Abuja.”
“Women must come together to speak with one voice, network and build trust upon their fellow women in other to secure meaningful change in their lives,” she said.
Mrs. Jonathan was represented at the event by the wife of the Leader of the House of Representatives, Mrs. Tumini Akogun, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
Also speaking on the occasion, the Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Josephine Anenih, said the concept of the 100 Women Consultative Group was conceived in 1996 with the aim of increasing women’s participation in political activities as well as to enhance the socio-economic status of women in the country.
