The Canal
For residents of Ajebo Lane, Kasumu, Adebari, Jinadu and Soyinka streets in Agege area of Lagos, the fear of an abandoned canal in the area is now the beginning of wisdom.
The fear of the people is genuine as the densely populated community was hit by a double tragedy last Monday when a 10-year-old pupil of Al-Huda Wa Rahmon Nursery and Primary School, Agege, Ibrahim Jimoh, and a member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers identified simply as Idowu fell into the canal and died.
