Ekiti: Oyo ex-LG chairmen berate Reps




Thirty-three ex-council chairmen in Oyo State have faulted the House of Representatives for calling on the Federal Government to withhold allocations accruable to local governments in Ekiti State.

The 33 former chairmen were elected in the twilight of the administration of former Governor Rashidi Ladoja. They were sacked from office when Otunba Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala became the governor of the state in May 2007.

In a joint statement on Wednesday, the ex-chairmen said the House of Representatives saw nothing wrong when the Peoples Democratic Party-led Alao-Akala administration sacked the lawfully elected chairmen. They added that it was ridiculous that the federal alwmakers were being used to pursue parochial selfish interests, stressing that the call on the Federal Government was baseless.
