The Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has praised the Super Falcons for winning the African Women‘s Championship in South Africa.
Nigeria on Sunday defeated Equatorial Guinea 4-2 in the final to the rule the continent for the sixth time.
Daniel said, ”On behalf of the government and people of Ogun State I want to salute the Super Falcons for their resilience and for flying the flag of Nigeria loftily in South Africa.
”They have given us another reason to celebrate and written their own names in gold. I congratulate President Goodluck Jonathan, the Minister of Sports (Ibrahim Bio) and the entire management and the Super Falcons and the generality of Nigerians on this wonderful achievement.
“The Super Eagles should take their own cue from the women by ensuring that they do not only qualify for the next African Nations Cup competition but also bring home the trophy.”
