Next 'Wolverine' film won't be a sequel

New details have emerged about the upcoming Wolverine sequel – and it turns out the film won't be a sequel at all.
In an interview with HitFix, director Darren Aronofsky revealed that the film, officially titled "The Wolverine," will not be a follow up to 2009's popular "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." Instead, Aronofsky's project, featuring the razor-clawed Marvel superhero and starring Hugh Jackman, will be a one-off, stand-alone film.
As for the plot, ComingSoon reports that the story will find Wolverine – more commonly known as Logan – embarking on a forbidden romance with a Japanese woman whose hand in marriage was already promised to another man. Never one to take no for an answer, Logan takes on her father and sword-wielding brothers in an attempt to win her heart.

Jackman, 42, has said that fans should expect some pretty dark drama. "This is 'Wolverine.' This is not 'Popeye,'" he told New York magazine's Vulture. "[Aronofsky’s] going to make it fantastic. There’s going to be some meat on the bones. There will be something to think about as you leave the theater, for sure.”
