Fabregas lauds Arsenal spirit
Cesc Fabregas
Cesc Fabregas hailed the resilience of his Arsenal side after they held on to claim an important 2-1 win against Everton.
Bacary Sagna opened the scoring before the Gunners‘ mercurial skipper added the second minutes after the restart.
Tim Cahill ensured the visitors had a nervous finish as he plundered a goal a minute before full-time, but they were unable to find an equaliser.
”The second goal was an important goal early in the second half. We knew they would push hard at us and at the end they scored and we were a bit nervous,” Fabregas told Sky Sports News.
”It was a good performance. Defensively we looked solid; our only regret is that last minute goal. We played very well, we were in control. We knew their game was long ball but we did well against it.”
The win took Arsenal up to second in the Premier League, just two points behind champions Chelsea.
Arsenal have not won a trophy in six years as Arsene Wenger has maintained belief that his young team would mature and produce trophies.
And although they are starting to hit form, the World Cup winner feels they may also need some luck to succeed.
