Uche, Emenike warn Sierra Leone
Kalu Uche
Nigeria internationals, Kalu Uche, Ahmed Musa and uncapped striker Emmanuel Emenike, were on Saturday on target for their respective European clubs ahead of Wednesday’s friendly against Sierra Leone.
Uche was on target after just seven minutes with a low shot for relegation-troubled Spanish side Almeria in a much-needed 3-2 home win over Espanyol.
Uche also provided an assist, but Almeria will need more wins if they are to avoid relegation this term. They are second from bottom with 20 points from 22 matches
In Holland, 18-year-old Ahmed Musa scored his second goal in as many matches as his club VVV Venlo won a rare game by beating NAC Breda 3-0.
Venlo remain second bottom of the standings in the Dutch top flight with 13 points from 22 matches, six points behind nearest rivals SBV Excelsior.
In Turkey, Emenike warmed up to making his Eagles debut on Wednesday by notching his 12th goal for hosts Karabukspor against Besiktas. The match finished in a 1-1 draw.
Karabukspor have climbed to 10th place on the table with 26 points from 20 matches.
Wednesday’s encounter between Nigeria and Sierra Leone in Lagos is scheduled to kick off at 7pm.
The Nigeria Football Federation have confirmed the availability of Osaze Odemwingie, Vincent Enyeama, Joseph Yobo and Mikel Obi for the clash.
Sierra Leone have announced 17 foreign-based pros for the encounter.
