Aspirant advises Oyo PDP to caution members

Irked by the incessant violence being recorded among its members, a governorship aspirant of the Action Congress of Nigeria in Oyo State, Dr. Ismail Adewusi, has called on the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party to caution its members.

He said the need for the PDP leaders to stop the unruly state of affairs and allow peace to reign in the state had become imperative, following allegations of assassination attempts on some chieftains of the state chapter. On Friday, unknown gunmen reportedly attempted to assassinate a member of the state House of Assembly, Mr. Tunde Jinadu.

The politician, who is the chairman of the House Committee on Media and Security, had alleged that some suspected thugs attacked his house in Ibadan and damaged vehicles in his compound but were prevented from getting to him by his private security men.

Reacting to the development at a press conference in Ibadan, the state capital on Sunday, Adewusi said the state had for ages been known as a peaceful place. He alleged that the PDP came to power and shattered the prevailing calm in the state.

Adewusi also expressed worry at the incessant clashes between members of the state branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, which had led to many deaths. The aspirant advised the PDP to emulate the ACN’s style of peaceful politicking.
