Police commission promotes 219 officers

The Police Service Commission on Monday promoted 219 police officersranging from the ranks of Superintendent to Commissioner of Police.

The PSC added that the elevation was based on seniority, merit, availability of vacancies, favourable performance and minimum of three years on a rank.

The exercise affected 35 deputy commissioners who it said had fulfilled all conditions required for elevation to the rank of commissioners of police.

Similarly, 46 assistant commissioners of police were elevated by the commission to deputy commissioners of police while 52 chief superintendents of police, were promoted to the rank of ACPs.

Rising from its 20th plenary meeting in Abuja, the PSC resolved that no competent officer of the Nigeria Police Force who truly merits promotions would be denied, saying that the exercise was in line with the powers conferred on it by the 1999 constitution and its enabling law.

The commission further approved the promotion of 86 superintendents of police to the rank of CSPs.

The PSC chairman, Mr. Parry Osayande DIG (retd.), who congratulated the successful officers, urged them to live up to the new responsibilities which their new positions had placed on them.

He also admonished all members of the NPF to work hard to earn promotion, saying that “as it is only competence and hard work that would earn an officer promotion.”

The 33 DCPs who were promoted include Godfrey Okeke, Abayomi Akeremale,Sunday Ogbonna, Chintua Amajor(Mrs), Ikechukwu Aduba, Sylvester Umeh, and Suleiman Lawal.

Others are Longinus Ibe,Ikemefuna Okoye,Mgbako Ogugua, Oladele Ajiboye, Fabian Ojiri, Simeon Midenda, Hassan Adamu,Lawal Tanko,James Caulcrick, Buhari Tanko, Sherifat Disu-Fapohunda(Mrs), Charles Abutu, James Aroniyo and Mohammed Indabawa.

The list also include Titus Okolo, Nicholas Nkemdeme, Stephen Atama,Samson Ogunlowo,Emmanuel Obiakor, and others.
