Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Mrs. Pauline Tallen, has said that she has a brighter chance of emerging as the next governor of the state in 2011. Tallen said that the various attempts to paint the picture that she is tilted to a particular person or group was a campaign meant to distract her.
She therefore vowed not to engage in any campaign of calumny or mudslinging against any of the aspirants. Tallen, who spoke through Pauline Tallen Campaign Organisation, said that her acceptability was exemplified by the successful outing she had last Wednesday when she formally launched her governorship campaigns.
Director-General of PATCO, Mr. Simon Gwan, said in a statement, that the unprecedented support Tallen had received and continued to receive was as a result of many years of her relentless service to humanity and her love for people, especially the less privileged in the society, irrespective of tribal, religious or political affiliations.
The statement said that most of the groups that came to support her from the 17 local government areas mobilised and hired buses and transported themselves to Jos without any financial inducement from the campaign organisation.
It added, “We see the efforts of these groups and individuals as a reward for Pauline Tallen’s over 25 years of genuine politicking that relates directly with the grassroots, which did not only ensure that she emerged as the deputy governor in 2007.”
While thanking all those that graced her declaration, she urged them to translate the support to votes, so that the needed change will come to the state.
