Adegoke, Emmanuel win ITA titles

Fourteen-year old junior tennis sensation, Sarah Adegoke, lived up to the billing when she defeated Victoria Peters, 16, in the finals of the Girls-16 event of the NNPC Junior Tennis Championship.

Playing on the centre court of the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Adegoke from Ibadan, won the pro set 9-0 for the loss of only eight points.

In other title matches, Indian Terry Das, confirmed his status as the best in the 10-and-under category when he overcame Kenneth Pyagbara from Port Harcourt 9-4. Pyagbara had also reached the final of the Boys-12 event where he lost to Michael Osewa 9-5. The eight-year-old Indian took an 8-2 lead and then weathered a fierce comeback effort to end the match.

The result according to the organisers underlines the depth of talent in the ITA Junior Circuit.
