Redirect budget to meet people’s aspirations, Atiku tells N’Assembly

A presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has urged the National Assembly to ensure that the 2011 budget reflects the aspirations of Nigerians.

Abubakar stated this in his assessment of the 2011 budget presented to the National Assembly by President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday.

In the assessment titled, ‘My concerns about 2011 budget,’ Abubakar said the National Assembly should redirect the budget “to meet wishes and aspirations of the majority of Nigerians.”

He said emphasis should be placed on job and wealth creation for poor Nigerians.

Abubakar noted that the budget was presented to the National Assembly ‘very late.’
